Health and Safety Executive brings rogue gas fitters to justice

HSE successfully prosecuted 28 people for breaching gas legislation in 2008/09, covering 66 separate offences. 173 enforcement notices were also served during this period. (see notes to editors). HSE takes legal action against landlords who disregard gas safety

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is warning tenants and landlords about potentially unsafe gas installations in tenanted properties. This warning follows the prosecution of Shahid Hussain, who manages a family business that owns and rents-out a number of properties in Burton-on-Trent.
