Oil boilers still competitively priced when compared to other fuels like LPG(04/05/2011)
Replacing a conventional oil boiler with a condensing one can save around 19% in fuel bills – possibly more if the original boiler is very old. OFTEC encourages private landlords in Scotland to take advantage of the new boiler scrappage scheme(26/11/2010)
Since the 9th November eligible landlords in Scotland can claim £400 off the cost of a new boiler. The Scottish Government scheme is designed to help reduce CO2 emissions and reduce fuel costs for the tenant. Boilers eligible for the grant are those which have a G rated efficiency (of 70% or less), and they must be replaced by a efficient new boiler as recommended by the Energy Saving Trust. The Gas Safety Trust partners with OFTEC and HETAS to understand and reduce CO incidents nationwide(13/08/2010)
The Gas Safety Trust has reached agreement with OFTEC, the oil firing technical association, and HETAS, the solid fuel domestic heating association, to extend the process used to report domestic CO related gas incidents, to cover those resulting from solid fuel and oil installations as well. According to Sutherland Tables, heating your home with oil is much cheaper than using LPG or electricity in the UK. The latest figures report that it is 41% cheaper to heat your home with oil rather than LPG and 28% cheaper than using electricity in the UK.
