Mitsubishi Electric's recent attendance at two distinct trade shows has pointed to a huge increase in demand for heat pump technology.

Mitsubishi Electric's stand at RAC/H&V 09 was used to promote the latest developments in commercial heating, cooling and ventilation systems using advanced heat pump technology, as well as showcasing Photovoltaic power generation systems.

“Our stand at RAC/H&V ‘09 was very busy for a lot of the time and the same was true of the one at Ecobuild ‘09,” commented Richard Cooper, National Marketing Manager.

The Bi-annual exhibition brought together all of the big names in the industry under one roof at Birmingham’s NEC to showcase the latest developments.

“How the construction industry reacts to the challenge of climate change is one of the hot topics of the moment, so Ecobuild was a very different show as it combines a number of different industries under a very green agenda, with more direct end users,” added Cooper.

At Ecobuild, Mitsubishi Electric focused on how its products can help houses achieve Level’s 3, 4 or 5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Cooper also noticed a dramatic change from last year’s exhibition which reinforces the company’s belief in air source heat pumps as the future of mass-market, residential heating. “When we attended last year, we were one of a handful of heat pump manufacturers but this year, you couldn’t move for examples of this low carbon way of heating homes.”

Mitsubishi Electric has invested heavily in its Ecodan® range of air source heat pumps and has deliberately designed them to be easy to install so that it eases adoption amongst plumbers – the traditional route to market for heating equipment.

“What I take from both shows is that things are very tough out there at the moment, and we also have the huge challenge of global warming, but actually, these two things can be combined to bring opportunity for the industry for the longer-term.”
