Newham Borough to install MagnaClean Professional with every new boiler installation in Modern Homes programme
(07/07/2009)
Following initial trials and subsequent roll-out over a 12-month period of ADEY’s MagnaClean Professional filter, which cleans and maintains central heating systems, officials in the London Borough of Newham have introduced the product as part of the authority’s Specification for Modern Homes programme.
Newham Homes, an ALMO (arms length management organisation) which manages housing for the borough, will be installing MagnaClean Professional along with every new boiler installation throughout the term of the Modern Homes initiative up to 2011.
Gas Manager for Newham Homes Bernie Witt estimated that this could involve 5,000 filters over the next two years. “This is something we’ve looked at carefully because the key to maintaining the life of a boiler is keeping the heat exchanger clean. As an engineer myself, I know the muck is the worst enemy and you have to protect the system with clean water and MagnaClean Professional does exactly that,” he explains.
“With the modern boilers we fit these days, little else goes wrong so if we can combat the sludge it will make a big difference long term. We’ve analysed how clean the water is and we know that virtually everything that breaks away in the system is magnetic and will be collected by the filter.
“We have 30 engineers out there fitting MagnaCleans and I’m 100% satisfied it’s doing the job and we haven’t had a problem with it. It delivers in every sense and is quick and easy to maintain,” he concludes.
ADEY’s National Sales Director Roger Williams commented that he was delighted by the positive feedback from the east London borough. “We’re fortunate to have a range of products that deliver results and the MagnaClean technology really does make a difference on so many levels particularly on this scale for local authorities and housing associations which is why it’s become accepted industry practice,” he says.
ADEY’s MagnaClean filter technology is designed to protect and maintain central heating systems removing virtually 100% of suspended black iron oxide from new and existing domestic and commercial installations. The company claims that it’s the way forward in effective and energy efficient central heating system performance for the heating industry.
