Oventrop valves selected for new medical centre
(03/02/2010)
Oventrop valves have been selected by Bianco Sale Ltd Building Services Consultants, to facilitate a fast track refurbishment project in Tunbridge Wells, Kent to convert an existing insurance company’s offices into a medical health centre for Assura. When completed it is proposed that the medical centre will accommodate several general practices, a diabetic suite, a renal unit and a pharmacy. The main contractor was BBS Construction.
Mechanical contractor Steadman Environmental stripped out an existing heating system in the 4-storey building and installed a new one designed to meet the demands of the varied occupancies. Hot water is generated by a gas boiler in a new rooftop plant room and circulated throughout the core areas via the new main distribution system.
Radiators fitted with Oventrop AV6/Combi 4 TRV/lockshield combinations serve the core areas and the radiator circuits are equipped with Hydromat differential pressure valves which reduce commissioning times and ensure an improved system dynamic balance. Oventrop Aquastrom T Plus automatic operating hot water secondary circulation regulation valves were fitted to the hot water system.
As well as simplifying the DHW commissioning stage, Oventrop Aquastrom T Plus multifunction DHW regulating valves provide significant energy savings by thermostatically controlling temperature and flow in the system. They also provide hydronic balance of the DHW circuits and enable automatic pasteurisation when the water temperature in the system is raised above 70ºC to eliminate Legionnella risks.
