Home owners should shop around to ensure that they find the best deal for their energy supply

With many of the fixed and capped tariff offers coming to an end over the next couple of months, home owners are advised that they will need to shop around to ensure that they find the best deal for their energy supply. As such, Ratedpeople.com has indicated that home owners should look at all of the possible avenues where money could be saved, and consider investing in measures to reduce heat lost from their homes.
Andrew Skipwith, Founder and CEO of Ratedpeople.com, said: “In the short term, some DIY activities such as the installation of double glazing or loft insulation can cost enough to put home owners off, but were their heating bills to increase after the beginning of March, they could soon find that such measures will pay for themselves much more quickly.”
Price comparison website uSwitch has highlighted that payment methods could be a cause of price increases, with those consumers paying by cheque or a fixed cash plan looking at an average bill increase of around £130. However, those who opt for direct debit payment plans may find that their annual bill falls by around £35.
Andrew Skipwith continued: “If home owners shop around they may be able to find the cheapest deals for energy on the market, but a sure fire way of reducing bills is to improve efficiency., There are also many ways that home owners can get help with the costs of such projects, such as the boiler scrappage scheme and other government initiatives that look to improve efficiency standards across the UK.”
