Potterton Solar in-roof panels achieve MCS Transitional Agreement certification

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) was conceived by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and will be the universal route to financial assistance for microgeneration technologies in the UK. It is also a quality mark that demonstrates how microgeneration technologies have been rigorously assessed and meet the scheme’s robust quality and performance criteria.

MCS will underpin the Low Carbon Buildings Programme Phase 2. Qualifying public sector and not-for-profit organisations, such as housing associations, local authorities and registered charities, can apply for up to 50 per cent of the project cost. However, both products and installers will have to be MCS certified for the applicant to qualify for funding.

Potterton Solar in-roof panels have achieved Transitional Agreement certification under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme. Potterton Solar in-roof panels can either be installed during construction or retrofitted into to the existing roof structure. They are a reliable, straightforward solution that will deliver long term carbon dioxide and fuel cost savings.

The panels are able to achieve 95 per cent solar absorption efficiency, which means they are able to provide up to 100 per cent of hot water requirements in the summer, and approximately 55 per cent annually. And they can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around half a tonne per annum.

The Potterton Solar package contains all the components needed for installation, including flat plate collectors, flashing set for slate or roof tiles, solar controller, expansion vessel, anti-freeze solution, thermostatic blending valve for the domestic hot water and hydraulic pump station.
