(20/05/2010)
The Manor House Hotel, located on the shores of lower Lough Erne in Killadeas, Co. Fermanagh. is privately owned hotel with 81 bedrooms. All rooms are en-suite and the leisure complex has a swimming pool, steam room and sauna.
The Manor House Hotel use brites to fuel their wood pellet boiler. Wood Energy Ltd. installed the boiler (1 x 500kW Binder Boiler). Capital cost for the turn key installation was £120,000. 50% grant was received. This means the capital cost was repaid in approx. 3 years.
255 tonnes brites have been used in the last year. The cost of brites was £25,500. The equivalent cost of oil £51,000 (based on average oil cost of £0.40 per litre). The Manor House Hotel has made savings of £25,500. This will offset 306 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2).
The brites are stored in a containerised unit (16t). The ash needs empting once per month and is used as fertilizer on the hotel grounds. The store should be cleaned out annually.
David Begley, Manager said, “The hotel has made considerable savings since changing over to brites. The delivery is timely and is carried out with minimum disruption to guests.”
