Limescale in hard water areas reduces the efficiency of heating and hot water systems and increases running costs, and with over 60 per cent of the UK being supplied with hard water this is an important issue to address. Research has shown that a layer of limescale just 1mm thick will reduce a boiler’s efficiency by 7.5 per cent, while a 12mm layer will increase heating costs by 65 per cent.

While many installers still rely on the better-known brands, an ever-increasing number are recognising the benefits of the Guardian water treatment range. A premium product without the premium pricing levels, Guardian is having a positive impact on many installers’ budgets, allowing them to offer more competitive quotes in a sometimes difficult market, and make a greater profit margin too.

The Domestic Heating Compliance Guide specifically requires the use of chemical inhibitors both for new build heating systems and when a new boiler is fitted to an existing heating system. The Guide states: “Central heating systems should be thoroughly cleaned and flushed out before installing a new boiler. During final filling of a system, a chemical treatment formulation should be added to the primary circuit to control corrosion and the formation of scale and sludge.”

The Guardian range is easy to use and BuildCert approved, which allows boiler manufacturers, installers and consumers to have peace of mind that their hot water system is protected.

And Pulsar direct’s current deal, which means you get one free litre of Guardian inhibitor with every two litres purchased, means you’re on to a real winner price-wise too.

Heating and plumbing specialist Pulsar direct is the exclusive distributor of Guardian water treatments. CEO Justin Mc Inerney commented, “The Guardian range has been a big hit with installers in the UK and Ireland. We currently sell around 100,000 Guardian products each year, with sales increasing as more plumbers try the product and are won over by its unbeatable quality and price.”

Pulsar direct has revolutionised the plumbing market with its approach of supplying the trade with a comprehensive range of quality plumbing products, stocking over 10,000 product lines, from standard fittings and fixings to underfloor heating and the latest in power tools.
