Danfoss Heat Pumps UK introduces a bespoke training course to help approved installers with the understanding and interpretation of the MIS 3005 standard, which is essential for compliance to the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

The new version (3.1) of the standard was announced in January this year and Danfoss Heat Pumps’ training department acted swiftly to design a dedicated course to respond to this, announcing a series of course dates around the UK for its network of installers. Training sessions are being held in Sheffield, Denham, Tredegar, Perth and Strathclyde.

Stephen Bancroft, Lead Trainer at Danfoss Heat Pumps UK, said: “This training is designed to assist installers with complying with the requirements of the MCS scheme. It will also ensure that sizing and installation of heat pumps is carried out to an agreed standard.”

The updates to MIS 3005 affect the method of sizing of the heat pump and calculation of heat loss in a building. With the Renewable Heat Incentive now available for non-domestic installations, the updates to MIS 3005 were seen as essential to ensure a standard for renewable energy efficient system measurement.

Danfoss Heat Pumps UK has seen an overwhelming demand from installers across the country to attend these courses. Stephen Bancroft adds: “Installers are aware that they need to be up to date with the new standards and this course will give them the knowledge they need to put into practice to demonstrate compliance.”

The company provides a comprehensive range of heat pump courses. This includes Heat Pump 1, an introductory one-day session designed for those interested in the purchase or specification of heat pumps; Heat Pump 2 an intensive two-day programme designed to enable experienced heating engineers to move into the heat pump market, and Heat Pump 3 which focuses on installing heat pumps for light commercial use.

Danfoss has been manufacturing heat pumps and providing installer training for over 30 years in Scandinavia and will equip experienced heating engineers with the skills to design, install, maintain, commission and service ground and air source heat pumps.
